If you wish to donate in Moffett's memory, her family suggests gifts to the following:

Berkeley Zen Center

Berkeley Zen Center is a place where people practice zazen together daily, with the support of the community and its guiding teachers.

Zazen—meditation, or sitting in stillness—is the center of our practice, following and adapting the traditions of Soto Zen Buddhism. At BZC our everyday activity, as it extends from zazen, is the field where practice finds its full expression.

Berkeley Zen Center was established in 1967 by our late teachers Sojun Mel Weitsman Roshi and Shunryu Suzuki Roshi.

Donations can be made by check to BZC, 1931 Russell Street, Berkeley 94703.

For Maintenance of Green Gulch Farm

Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, also known as Green Dragon Temple (Soryu-ji), is located in Marin County, just north of San Francisco, in a valley that opens out onto the Pacific Ocean. In addition to a year-round schedule of Zen meditation, study, and practice, it includes a thriving organic farm and garden, a traditional Japanese guest house and tea house, and a conference and retreat center.

For Maintenance of Tassajara Retreat Center

One of three practice communities that comprise the San Francisco Zen Center, Tassajara is nestled in a mountain valley, inland from the Big Sur coast, in a remote part of the Ventana Wilderness. Tassajara is dedicated to San Francisco Zen Center’s mission, which is “to embody, express, and make accessible the wisdom and compassion of the Buddha.”

In 1967, Tassajara was established as the first Soto Zen training monastery on the West Coast, and offers monastic training periods during the fall and winter months. Each year from May to September, Tassajara, or Zenshinji (Zen Heart-Mind Temple), as it is known formally, opens its gates to students and guests alike for the summer guest season.
